Results of First Meeting - Follow Up Meeting Scheduled

Our first Millwood District Development meeting was held last week on Tuesday and it was a great opportunity to hear ideas, concerns, suggestions, etc. from property owners, new businesses, city officials, resources such as the Library, Avista, and Greater Spokane;  with everyone desiring to see a thriving business district in Millwood.  However, we all did MISS YOU!!

Our next meeting with Alexander Scott, GSI Facilitator, will be late April.  In the interim we will hold our monthly Millwood Better for Business meeting to review the discussion and next steps with our business group on

        Monday, March 16
        11:30 AM
        Millwood City Hall

Please plan to join us and provide your input for this initiative.  An update on the progress of city projects will also be provided (including railroad ROW parking, city park parking, signage, walk/bike path and Argonne/Euclid left-turn lanes).  As you can see, there is a lot of momentum and YOUR input, thoughts and energy are needed to keep us moving in the right direction!

We will of course be planning for Millwood Daze coming up quickly in August!   We are fortunate to have a festival already within our city that brings attention and visitors to Millwood.  This is one more thing to celebrate and use to show off Millwood advantages!

Comments from Jonna at Company Ballet

My input would be:

To get the parking issue resolved.

To try and get more of the trains into the overnight hours instead of rush hour.

Help cleaning up the street and sidewalk the dust and dirt from the railroad is such a problem even if we sweep the sidewalk it just blows right back up. Millwood always looks dirty.

The old fashioned street lamps that have been talked about over the years. Would be so inviting and beautiful lite up in the evenings.

The park should be a focus great asset to the town.

Help promote the town  businesses through town advertising and events.

Many curtsies,
Jonna

Telling People Who We Are: An Example: South Perry Business Website

Millwood is Millwood; we are not South Perry or the Garland District or Hillyard. But we can look to our fellow neighborhood business districts for inspiration and ideas.

Here is a link to the South Perry Business and Neighborhood Association's website. It provides information about itself, news and events, and a list of businesses in the neighborhood.

 http://www.southperry.org/Home.html

Millwood could build something similar to this to tell people about who we are and what is going on in our city.
