Minutes of May 11 Meeting

Minutes of Millwood Better For Business Meeting, May 11, 2015

Shirene Young, IEP, welcomed everyone and explained the purpose of the meeting, to decide what to do with the need for establishing an identify for Millwood, and with the need to make the Better For Business group a more formal organization.

Alexander Scott, Stratagem Business Consulting, encouraged the Millwood business community needs to take the lead now, to maintain the momentum created during the first two business consultation sessions this spring.

Shirene Young said Millwood businesses need to formalize the Better For Business group by incorporating as a not-for-profit. She said we need to write bylaws and obtain about $1,000 for seed money.

Steve Crowder and Dave McClave, Case42, explained the concept of neighborhood marketing, and developing a “brand” for the community. Steve said his group visited businesses over the past week and identified some issues.  Millwood “needs a facelift.”  We need to make it easier for people to turn off of Argonne. The stoplights are too long. There is an odor from the papermill.

Greg Mott, Shirene Young, Margie Anderson and Alexander Scott agreed to meet as a committee on May 21 to move forward with the branding project.
