How does Millwood today compare to five years ago?
Millwood HAS come a long LONG way in the time I have had my office here- (since
1995) I am very proud of the progress we
have made; however, we still do not have the
type of “destination” businesses here for people to make a special trip
over to our neighborhood-- With a few exceptions, we do
not have a DRAW for people to come here to eat & “ refresh”
etc. Perry & Garland
both have nice eclectic type restaurants, (eateries)
& lounges.
Strength/opportunity:
One of our strengths is the RIVER running thru our town (or North end). And we have a deep historical value- ( paper mill , homes, and Railroad)
Obstacles:
Argonne is a main thoroughfare – we have very little for people to STOP for. It is still difficult to get into business coming from opposite directions ( no turn lanes). Again, with a few exceptions, some of the buildings have absolutely NO restorations, updates since the early 1900. They look tattered and old, not well maintained.
